The Croft Country Pattern Book

The Croft Shetland Country Pattern Book
By Rosee Woodland and Mary Henderson

"The rural agricultural community on the Shetland Islands have a long and prestigious history of rearing Britain’s most northerly native sheep breed and collecting its high-quality wool. This is part of a practice known as crofting, which is integral to the landscape, cultural heritage and social economy of the Shetland Islands. It bonds people and places in a unique way, preserving livelihoods and age old traditions.

We had long awaited the opportunity to work with Shetland Island Wool, a fibre world-renowned for its fineness, warmth and strength. We were delighted to be given the chance by Jamieson & Smith of Shetland to use this fantastic fleece.

Ever since the initial launch in 2017, enthusiastic crafters have been requesting new colours. So, as part of this collection we have developed six new shades; two solids and four unique tweed colourways. They have been designed to be interchangeable with the existing collection to create harmonious and eye catching combinations across the range."

This pattern book is designed for Aran weight yarn, specifically The Croft range by WYS, but you can substitute any similar weight yarn.
The Croft yarn: Makeup - Size 100gm hanks (166 metres / 182 yards)
Tension - 24rs x 18sts - 10cm (4") sq - 5mm (US8) needles
