"Claret" Illustrious DK

This has been DISCONTINUED. We have a few balls left, but once they are gone- they are gone forever!

"Over the years we have blended and mixed many types of raw materials together. Our aim is to combine compatible fibres that look and feel fantastic, with softness of touch and clear stitch definition.

Our customers invest a great deal of their time creating garments and accessories, they deserve to be rewarded with a beautiful and unique product that they can be proud of.

We wanted the colours in this range to be as inspiring and luxurious as the yarn. We invested our time in ensuring that the mix of colours and shades not only worked well individually but also complemented each other. Finally, we used our new technology to create some new exciting variegated combinations which we feel completes this stunning collection."

Reared, Sheared and Spun in Yorkshire, this beautiful British Wool is a favourite. Especially because of all the beautiful shades of colours it comes in! by West Yorkshire Spinners.

Why we stock Illustrious & WYS?
West Yorkshire Spinners (WYS) run a mill in West Yorkshire where they use British wool (so not much airmiles), and they dye and spin in the same place. Always Mulesing Free too, so you know the sheep are treated well. They are still a pretty small company, even though they've grown a lot since we started stocking them back in 2014. They are a GREAT alternative to Regia, Opal, Stylecraft, Rowan and all those other 'big names' whose ethics may be unknown or questionable. They've also won so many awards within the industry, I've lost count!

The Illustrious is a gorgeous soft and drapey yarn. Faulkland yarn is usually used for baby knit, so it's got that super close-to-skin feel, and Alpaca is actually hypoallergenic (no lanolin) which makes it a great fibre for people with wool allergies or sensitivities. This combo makes a wonderful choice for a people wanting to try some wool-based yarn but might still be nervous about it being 'itchy'. Illustrious is very soft and doesn't feel rough like other 100% wools
