Why we stock Colourlab & WYS?
West Yorkshire Spinners (WYS) run a mill in West Yorkshire where they use British wool (so not much airmiles), and they dye and spin in the same place. Always Mulesing Free too, so you know the sheep are treated well. They are still a pretty small company, even though they've grown a lot since we started stocking them back in 2014. They are a GREAT alternative to Regia, Opal, Stylecraft, Rowan and all those other 'big names' whose ethics may be unknown or questionable. They've also won so many awards within the industry, I've lost count!

The Colourlab range is an improvement on their old 'Essential DK'/'Air Valley Essential', as they've gone plastic free! This is 100% wool, but it's designed to still be user-friendly in terms of care. You can pop it in the washing machine on a wool wash no problem, which makes it a favourite of new parents and blanket makers. How is this possible, you ask? They use a tight spinning process to give it a nice stability! And bonus- this stuff it's going to sag and wear out like acrylics or high nylon content yarns- wool is naturally bouncy so it will hold its shape for years and years. It's the best quality for a low-mid price range yarn you can get! If you're used to cheap balls from poundland and want to get to grips with something a little more long-lasting, this is definitely the place to start! I always recommend it to newbies too. Okay, enough praising, haha, what colours are you gonna pick?
