'Niklaus' Bamboo Vegan blended braid

Vegan BRAIDS Fibre 100g: Rebekah Vegan

Sold by the 100g and prepared in braids to keep the fibres tidy. (If you've never used a braid before, you simply pull one end and it unravels and turns back into tops ready for spinning!)

Blended Fibre: Looking for something a little funky, or looking to combine the best qualities of several different types of fibre? You're in the right place! When we say 'Blends' we mean that colours or fibre types have been carded (or blended or mixed) together to create stunning combinations. Some of the blending we do by hand (like rolags and batts), others (like tops) are done at a UK mill.

NIKLAUS VEGAN BAMBOO
100% Bamboo

About this colour way: I designed a whole little rainbow of bamboo blends inspired by the jewel tones and rich moody (but strong) colours of New Orleans and the darker side of the fun town. First introduced to the amazing melting pot through the show 'The Originals', I named the colours after key characters in the show. Each colour represents a little bit about their personality and how it's interwoven with New Orleans. All our 'Originals' colourways have a base of grey and brown mixed with brighter colours. They are blended enough to give you a nice semi-solid when looking from a distance, but still the individual colours shine through as you're working with the fibre.

Niklaus is a deep blood red... mostly because Niklaus (it's namesake) loves to rip throats open. Niklaus is part of the Original vampire family, and I don't want to spoil anything if you haven't watched The Vampire Diaries or The Originals, but basically Nik struggles to feel like he fits in, he acts out and does some pretty awful things. So of course a dirty bloody red was the only choice!

BAMBOO
About the fibre: Produced from Bamboo pulp and wet spun like most other pulp based fibres, Bamboo is relatively new. White, silky and cool (high absorbency) this amazing antibacterial fibre is popular for use in Socks and Shawls.

Spinning tip: Bamboo is super strong and super silky, not to mention eco-friendly. Keep in mind that Bamboo is naturally quite slippery, so you might want to slow your wheel down when you're first working with this fibre. It's great for blending with wools too if you want to make it a bit 'bouncier'. Suitable for felting too, just remember that Bamboo takes needle felting much better than wet felting.
