"Dewflower" Sari Silk Recycled blended braid

Recycled BRAIDS Fibre 100g: Dewflower Sari Silk

Sold by the 100g and prepared in braids to keep the fibres tidy. (If you've never used a braid before, you simply pull one end and it unravels and turns back into tops ready for spinning!)

Blended Fibre: Looking for something a little funky, or looking to combine the best qualities of several different types of fibre? You're in the right place! When we say 'Blends' we mean that colours or fibre types have been carded (or blended or mixed) together to create stunning combinations. Some of the blending we do by hand (like rolags and batts), others (like tops) are done at a UK mill.

DEWFLOWER RECYCLED SARI SILK
100% Sari Silk
"Top/Roving Width: Circa 1 inch
Fibre Length: Circa 60mm
A mesmerising blend of Sari Silk colours, creating a beautifully rich blend

Please Note: As Sari Silk is a recycled handmade and handyed product, we suggest only cold water use. Please be aware that colours may run.

As our Sari Silks are handmade, there may be a colour/shade difference in batches and imagery is for base colour reference."

About this colour way: Dewflower is really soft and bouncy blend of greys and browns with TONS of colour pops. Magenta, Deep Blue, Turqoise, Yellow and Red are the ones that dominate in this fun blend.

Recycled Sari Silk
About the fibre: It's made by taking old Saris that are ripped or worn out (and would otherwise go to landfill), they get shredded back into smaller fibres and then blended together! So you're actually working with fibres that use to be cloth! Pretty amazing! The Saris are usually made out of silk to begin with, which is an animal fibre, made from the cocoons of silk worms. We don't know about the welfare of the silk worms that this product originally came from- but we do know that it feels really good to be extending the life of this delicate and fragile fibre.

Spinning tip: Sari Silk is known for it's VERY SHORT staple length. Remember it's bits of yarn that's been made into a cloth and then shredded back down into fibre. It's wonderful for adding pops of colours to projects. Kim found it very difficult to spin on it's own... it's possible but you'll want a very slow speed (big whorl) and much patience.

From WOW: "Beautiful Sari Silk combinations created using a blend of bold silks, perfect for spinning, needle felting and wet felting when blending with wool.

N.B This product isn't suitable for hot water crafts as colours may run due to the nature of Sari Silk."
